Temporary Measures on Authentication Application during Covid-19

Considering Public Health and Safety,Authentication service provided by Chinese Consulate in Melbourne is lodged via post to: Chinese Consulate, 98220604, 75-77 Irving road, Toorak, VIC 3142

The procedure is as below:

1. Documents should be notarized by a notary public.(Some original documents issued by local government or universities can be authenticated by Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade or its Office in States or Territories directly, Please check with the Department or its Offices)

2.The notarized documents should be authenticated (NOT apostilled) by the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade or its Office in States or Territories. Website of the Department and its Offices as follows:

3. Apply for the documents authentication from the Chinese Embassy or relevant Consulate General where the documents notarized but not authenticated, in accordance with consular regions.For example, if your documents are notarized in South Australia and authenticated in DFAT's office in Melbourne, they should be authenticated in the Chinese Consulate General in Adelaide but not the Consulate General in Sydney.

Mail Application Check List as Follows:

(1) One completed application form (signed by the applicant or legal representative with ink pen,digital or photocopied signature is not acceptable. Two places needed be singed on the form ) which can be downloaded from website:

a. Legalization Application Form

b. Legalization Application Form for Death Certificate

2) Passport copy (photo page) of the applicant.

3) Original documents authenticated by the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Trade or its Office in States or Territories.

4) One copy of the authenticated document.

5) The certificate of incorporation company statement issued by ASIC and passport copy (photo page) of its legal representative if the applicant is a company or an organization.

6) One copy of the agent's photo ID (driver's license, etc) if there is an agent.

7) An authorization letter of the Company or the Organization for the agent, if the applicant is a company or an organization.

8) Prepaid traceable envelope(waterproof) with the sender's address : (75-77 Irving Road, 98220604, Toorak, VIC 3142 )and applicant's address as receiver. Please be advised you will need to keep tracing information as record for your own reference as the Consulate will not be able to provide any tracking service as per signed Mail Service Form.

9)Payment authorization form (credit card only, please do not put cash in the envelope). The payment form can be downloaded from

4. Authentication fee:

1) Regular: 4-working day processing time

Civil (including adoptions)

A$30 per document

Commercial

A$60 per document

Property

A$60 per document


2) Rush: second working day processing time: additional A$50 per document.

3) Express: third working day processing time: additional A$30 per document.

4) Mail Service Fee: an additional A$10 per mailbag is needed.
