On September 15, at the invitation of Victorian Governor Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Consul General Fang Xinwen attended a celebration at Government House marking the 10th anniversary of the sister-state relationship between Sichuan Province and Victoria. A friendly delegation from Sichuan, led by Zhu Jiade, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, also participated. Distinguished guests included the Governor and her husband; Hon Paul Hamer MP, Minister for Roads and Road Safety, representing the Premier of Victoria; Leigh Howard, Victoria's Commissioner to Greater China; and Liu Dongyuan, Deputy Consul General.
Consul General, Governor, Vice Chairman, and other guests warmly celebrated the fruitful achievements made since the establishment of the sister-state relations between Sichuan and Victoria a decade ago. They also marked the first anniversary of the launch of Victoria’s China Strategy. They expressed hope for further strengthening friendly exchanges and high-level visits between Victoria, Sichuan, and other Chinese provinces and regions, as well as for robust, practical cooperation across sectors such as economy and trade, science and technology, education, and people-to-people ties.
During the event, guests toured a photo exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of the sister-state partnership and enjoyed wonderful performances by artists from the Sichuan cultural delegation and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
