On 18 July, China National Opera House presented its “Opera Gala: A Symphony of East and West” concert in Melbourne. Consul General Fang Xinwen and his wife Madam Zeng Hui joined nearly one thousand guests, including friends from various sectors, members of the Chinese community, and local audiences, to enjoy this remarkable event that bridged cultures and borders.

The artists of the China National Opera House delivered a captivating programme featuring celebrated operatic masterpieces from both Eastern and Western traditions. The performance was met with repeated standing ovations and enthusiastic applause, with the artists returning for multiple curtain calls as the audience responded warmly throughout the evening.

Following the concert, Consul General Fang visited backstage to meet and extend his regards to the cast and crew. He congratulated China National Opera House on the resounding success of the performance, praised the artists for their exceptional artistry and professionalism, and noted that the concert had opened a new chapter in cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Australia.

The concert marked the China National Opera House’s first-ever tour performance to Australia since its establishment 74 years ago.
