Recently, the Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne has continued to actively participate in various Spring Festival and Lantern Festival celebrations organized by the Chinese community in the consular district. Consul General Fang Xinwen and his wife Zeng Hui, Deputy Consuls General Liu Dongyuan, Pei Guichun and other diplomats from the Consulate-General, attended the 2026 Australia Day & Chinese New Year Cultural Day, the ABAW Manningham Chinese New Year Festival, the 2026 Springvale Lunar New Year Festival, the 2026 Glen Waverley Lunar New Year & Lantern Festival, the Fourth Ballarat Chinese New Year Concert, the Preston New Year Celebration, the 2026 ”Starry Carnival” Chinese New Year Celebration, the 3rd Australia–China Lunar New Year Basketball Festival, the 2026 Australian Hakka Spring Festival Gala, the 2026 Children’s Spring Festival Gala, the Chinese New Year Charity Gala, the Lantern Festival Gathering, the Dunhuang Night Chinese New Year Carnival, the 2026 Lunar New Year Festival of Tasmania etc.

Consul General Fang and others extended their best wishes for the Spring Festival to people from all walks of life in the consular district, highly praised the contributions of the Chinese community to inheriting excellent Chinese traditional culture and promoting people-to-people exchanges between China and Australia, and welcomed everyone to visit China to experience Chinese life and China's development achievements. They expressed their willingness to work with all sectors to strengthen the alignment of China's 15th Five-Year Plan with the development strategies of Victoria and Tasmania, and to push cooperation between the consular district and China to a new level.
