On September 16 and 18, Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne held separate seminars with heads of travel agencies and airlines in the consular district on ensuring the travel safety of Chinese citizens and addressing security issues such as preventing telecom fraud. Deputy Consul General Liu Dongyuan and Counsellor Chi Jiechao(economic and commercial affairs) attended the seminars.

Deputy Consul General Liu emphasized that strengthening the travel safety of Chinese citizens is a concrete commitment of the diplomatic principle of "diplomacy for the people" upheld by Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. As the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival draw near, she expressed hope to work with all parties to jointly provide safer and higher-quality services for Chinese citizens traveling to the consular district for tourism.

Participants exchanged views on strengthening publicity efforts of preventing telecom fraud among Chinese passengers on flights between China and Australia.

Since September 7, through the active coordination of our consulate, International Airline flights to and from Australia of "Air China" have begun broadcasting the animated short film "Preventing Overseas Telecom and Online Fraud" produced by the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. This initiative has effectively enhanced the awareness of Chinese citizens traveling to Australia about preventing telecom fraud before they "land and enter" Australia.
