On 17th December, Consul General Xinwen Fang met with Mr. Nicholas Reece, the newly elected Lord Mayor of City of Melbourne. 

Consul General Fang extended warm congratulations on Mr. Reece’s successful election as the Lord Mayor of Melbourne and spoke highly of the friendly and cooperative relations between Melbourne and Chinese cities such as Tianjin and Chengdu. Mr. Fang said that sub-national exchanges are the important part of China-Australia relations. The Chinese Consulate General stands readly to work with Melbourne City Council to push forward the continuous development of Melbourne's cooperation with China.

Lord Mayor Reece said that China is an important international partner of City of Melbourne. Melbourne City Council attaches great importance to the friendly relations and cooperation with Tianjin, Chengdu and other Chinese cities, and looks forward to more outcomes in the near future.
