Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne.
The Consulate General was established in September 1986, with its consular district covering the states of Victoria and Tasmania. The state of Victoria, located in the southeast of the Australian continent, is known as “the Garden State”, with its population and economy accounting for about one quarter of Australia. Melbourne, Victoria's capital, is the most populous city in Australia, which also has a reputation for being “capital of culture” and “capital of sports”. Tasmania, an island state in the southernmost of Australia, is famous for the beautiful scenery and abundant natural resources.
Thanks to the close ties and frequent exchanges, the two states have taken the lead in developing friendly relations with China. Bilateral cooperation in economy and trade, education, cultural exchanges, green development, science and technology, innovation and other fields is built on a solid foundation, which showcases strong momentum, fruitful outcomes and a promising future.
As the Consul General of China in Melbourne, I am deeply aware of the important responsibility and glorious mission upon my shoulders. My colleagues and I will work diligently with friends from all walks of life to protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese nationals and institutions in our consular district. We will provide you with high quality and efficient consular services, continiously promote friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between the two states and China, so as to contribute to the sound and steady growth of China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
We will update you on China’s development and the China-Australia relations, as well as the latest information on the exchanges and cooperation through our website, wechat and “X” account. We are grateful for your attention to and support of our work, and your views and comments are most appreciated.
